Why Isn't Anything Working?
This past week, I spoke with a mom who said something I hear some rendition of more often than I'd like.
"It's all so confusing. Nothing is making sense, no matter what we're trying."
That thought process is always in my head because I've had that same conversation hundreds of times over the years. The details are always different, but the feeling is almost always the same. Parents aren't just looking for answers anymore—they're overwhelmed by them.
Today, families have access to more information than any generation before them. One expert says it's dairy. Another says it's fiber. Someone else says it's behavioral, sensory, anxiety, or something they'll simply outgrow. Every recommendation sounds reasonable on its own, yet together they often leave parents wondering which direction to turn.
By the time many families reach WellieWay, they aren't lacking effort. They're exhausted from trying. They are spent emotionally and financially. They're carrying months, and sometimes years, of frustration along with guit many share, while asking one simple question:
"Why isn't anything working?"
After working with hundreds of families, I've realized the biggest obstacle isn't a lack of information. It's the absence of a framework that helps parents understand how all the pieces fit together.
When a child has been constipated for months or years, you're rarely looking at a problem that developed overnight. You're looking at a body that has adapted to a pattern over time. That's why lasting change rarely comes from simply finding the next thing to try. You can spend years chasing a symptom while the conditions that helped shape that symptom remain unchanged.
That realization is one of the biggest reasons I wrote Built, Not Fixed.

I didn't write it to give parents another checklist or another list of things to buy. I wrote it because I believe families deserve a better way to understand how health is built. When you understand the bigger picture, you stop feeling like you're guessing. The decisions become clearer because you're no longer reacting to today's symptom—you're looking at the conditions that influence your child's health every single day.
That's the foundation of the Conditions-First™ Method.
Instead of asking, "What's the next thing I should try?" Parent need begin asking a different question:
"What conditions are shaping my child's health every single day?"
I've found that when parents begin asking that question, something changes. The confusion starts to lift. They become more confident. They stop chasing every new recommendation and start making intentional decisions based on a bigger understanding of their child's health.
If you've ever found yourself wondering, "Why isn't anything working?" maybe you aren't missing the answer.
Maybe you've just never been shown the bigger picture and all what actually matters.
That's exactly why I wrote Built, Not Fixed.
Because healthier children aren't fixed.
They're built.
Keep building,
Nicole
